That seems to be what most companies seem to be focusing on these, especially Zeppelin NT, the current maintainer of the old Zeppelin heritage. They've already got tour ships in Africa, Tokyo and Europe and a company is working on getting one for San Francisco. They're all pretty expensive now though, which is unfortunate. They're also very small - so right now they're for sightseeing. I definitely agree with you that they need to start focusing on cruises rather than few hours.
