Introducing... the NRSC Truth Squad!

Ah, for hilarious concern-troll websites... now nearly content-free!

Ah, I love bad negative campaigning under the guise of concern. DOne well, and using facts, serious issues can be raised. But when it's simply ridiculous, it's hilarious! The National Republican Senatorial Committee (NRSC) is having a lovely fun time at it this cycle.

Of course we all remember how the Republicans are so worried over our own Jeff "Must Tax" Merkley. Oh no! Jeff Merkley's going to raise our taxes! Run for the hills! It's not like anything else is draining our nation's coffers. No. Not at all.

But what about the rest of our great Democratic challengers? Well, the Republicans are making sure the public is notified about their serious concerns. Here's a quick run-down:

AK-SEN: Mark Begich, the mayor of Anchorage, is putting the screws to Ted "Tubes" Stevens after years of the latter's corruption. So, what's going on with Mark? Just the facts, ma'am, Mark Begich Facts, that is. Look out! Apparently he's got money trouble. Oh no. Couldn't be worse than a bridge to nowhere, right?

KS-SEN: Now here's a strange case. Former Congressman Jim Slattery couldn't possibly knock off Pat Roberts, right? Well, better start up a concern troll site, the Slattery File, just to be safe. Apparently all they know about him is that he's a "lobbyist." Good lord! I don't know of any Republicans ever having lobbyist connections (coughJackAbramoffcough).

NM-SEN: I'm still laughing at this one. Did you know that New Mexico Congressman and Senate candidate Tom Udall is against us all? It baffles the mind to think just how much hate Tom must have to be against EVERYONE in New Mexico. Better give them money, quick!

CO-SEN: Better watch out for Boulder Liberal Mark Udall. I should have known. With his cousin hating everyone, it just makes sense. He's too extreme for Colorado. I just can't help but picture Mark rocking out to those words, throwing up the horns as he busts up his Abramoff-lite opponent. Not quite the right mental image, though, if they're going for the latte-drinking, Pelosi-loving, Obama-hugging liberal. At least the site has some content, yeesh!

OK-SEN: ANDREW RICE IS A COMMUNIST. And he loves Janeane Garofalo. And the ACLU. And Daily Kos. And gay rights. He has a "tangle" of liberal connections. Oh, that's hot.

VA-SEN: You want to vote for Mark Warner? Don't. You thought he had a strong record after his predecessor mired the state in debt? Don't. You thought this seat would stay Republican and Obama won't take it in the fall? Don't. You think Jim Gilmore has a chance? Don't. (apologies to certain movie trailers)

MN-SEN: Al Franken is a funny man. He's not serious. No way. He's a liar and a failure, or so is said. This one is far less funny than I had hoped.

NH-SEN: Oh, Jeanne! You've caused our children to suck, taxes to go up, and apparently grass to grow on the bottom of the website. I think they're also accusing her of bad memory, or something, since voters can't seem to remember that she doesn't belong in the Senate (leads in every poll, drugs incumbent, etc).

LA-SEN: Really? A website based on the E! True Hollywood Story, framed against our gal Mary Landrieu? Please.

And, with this ragtag bunch, you'll pick up two seats? And you won't lose any? Oh, I love the fun, naive nature of certain campaigns.
