Some Simple Driving Rules

Forgive the rant, but there are a few laws, rules, and common sense things that a lot of drivers seem to have forgotten or never learned in the first place.

  1. The fast lane is for passing. If you're not passing someone you should move over. If someone clearly wants to go faster than you and you're not passing someone, you're required by law to move over. "Slower Traffic Stay Right" applies all the time, regardless of whether or not there's a sign.
  2. If you're merging onto a freeway behind someone, it is not okay to merge and attempt to speed in front of them.
  3. You cannot stop at a green right turn light unless there are pedestrians in the crosswalk. Seriously, I watch people do this every day.
  4. It is not okay to honk at someone following all the rules of the road, simply because he does not oblige when you try to break the law. For instance, do not honk at someone turning right into a dedicated lane, because you want to cross a painted island into said lane.
  5. It is not okay or legal to stop and block the flow of traffic to let someone turn

  • Those are the worst things that drivers in the South Bay have done to you? I need to learn your friendly routes.

      • Yeah, sorry about cutting you off on the 101; I was in a hurry.
