Marvel Comics discovers internet; has idea
It's taken long enough.
Marvel Comics, makers of Spiderman and- wait, why am I telling you this? You know who Marvel is. But! Did you know that they're going to launch a new site where people will be able to read comics online? Big whoop, right? But here's the cool thing: they're doing it on a subscription model. $10/month, or $5/month if you subscribe for a year.
One nice thing is that it's not just new titles - they're putting up a bunch of old titles, which is great for those of us who aren't huge nerds and who haven't read every comic already.
Unfortunately, it won't be a way to keep up on the latest happenings, as "Titles must be in print for at least six months before they will go online."
I feel like this should be an idea that I'm hugely skeptical about, but I'm actually rather supportive of it. It sounds like a good way to get people into comics in the first place - nobody wants to jump into something without any kind of backstory.
On the other hand, comics are for nerds, so... I'm conflicted.

Comments from site editors have a darker background than comments from everybody else.I wonder if they're hiring. I'd take a job scanning ancient comics.
