DHS Does Something... OMG!!??!!!?!!?!!

Sometimes liberals distrust DHS, the administration, perhaps government in general, so much that they fail to understand what they're reading

Now, I'm a leftist commie most of the time, and am extremely distrustful of the current administration's motives, underlying plans, and even competencies, but seriously, liberals just take it too damn far sometimes. In today's example, Blue Patriot Woman over at Daily Kos is hopping mad over DHS' new proposed rules regarding a streamlined passenger watch list check system. The poster considers this "a nightmare world where American citizens will have to obtain permission from the government before they can travel by air in the U.S.," but in reality, it is little different from what is going on right now. In fact, I can see how it will be far superior.

Currently, each airline conducts their own checks against no-flight lists, which results in bizarre situations like 10 year-olds being held back for questioning and people being told they can't fly multiple times, and then told they are cleared and it won't happen again. According to the new rules, if you bother to read them, there will be one system to send all passenger names through and a single system will either okay or flag passengers, meaning that the system should be less capricious, less based on individual operator stupidity, and much less likely to mark false positives. How exactly is this bad? And how does it correlate to having to receive "permission" from DHS to fly?
