FeedsLarry Craig Attempts Time Travel, Seeks Double Jeopardy
The Smoking Gun provides us with Larry Craig's affidavit for his petition to withdraw the plea for disorderly conduct and it is truly breathtaking. First, his description of the events is laughable. There's simply no way the police officer could have seen what he saw if everything happened as Larry Craig says.
Then it gets ridiculous. He says on the second page: "At no time during that interview did Officer Karsnia explain to me the nature of the charges against me or the potential consequences [of a plea]." If someone with a political science degree and 33 years in politics needs an explanation of what a guilty plea means, there is something very wrong. Later, he admits several times that he did not seek the advice of an attorney, despite the Miranda warning he certainly received. I can see no reason for the judges to accept this request. If he had at all brought up the point that the speech or debate clause made his arrest almost certainly unconstitional, it would maybe have had a chance.

Comments from site editors have a darker background than comments from everybody else.Yeah... he has handled this in just an absolutely absurd way. What I want to know is what his staff are doing - are they fleeing a sinking ship or staying by their man? All the news coverage has been about him, it seems, and no talk about his people.
Poor Idaho. Now it's known for neo-Nazis, potatoes, and Larry Craig.
Thank God the beauty that is the potato mostly cancels out the others.
